Frequently Asked Upholstery Questions

If you bought a quality sofa 10 or so years ago it’s very likely that it’s better built that most of the sofas in High Street stores available today. Many of these ‘affordable’ sofas are made from inferior materials with poor quality cushion foams, poor quality springs and using frame materials such as softwood and chipboard. They often use ‘bonded’ leather which is actually made from scraps of leather that are glued together with a vinyl topcoat made to look like real leather. It’s not real leather and won’t last like it.

After a year or two these sofas tend to start looking tired. Cushions sag, leather starts to split and frames squeak and often fail. A quality sofa that’s been made from superior hardwood frames with dense foam cushions will outlast one of these many times over.

We strip your sofa back to the framed strengthen or repair any frame of spring issues. We add new padding where necessary and recover it. Your sofa is literally returned to ‘as new’ condition and should last many more years and certainly for longer that a new ‘affordable’ High Street sofa.
